Hunter Wingate Background and Bio

I was born in Italy, grew up in Florida, and spent a lot of my summers as a kid adventuring around Oahu, Hawaii. I graduated from Auburn University and commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. I’m currently a Captain in the Marine Corps and I’m based in Philadelphia, PA.

From 2018 to 2021 I lived in San Diego, CA and that’s where I really started getting into photography and traveling. I brought friends on road trips all over California and flew to Hawaii whenever I could. I moved across the country to Philly and that’s when I decided to start flying to foreign countries and exploring outside of the U.S. as much as possible. I honestly can’t believe I’m lucky enough to get to travel the world and do all the things I only dreamed of when I was a kid.

Hopefully something on here will inspire you to go explore and keep the stoke high. Thanks for reading.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why is your logo a pineapple?

It’s been my favorite fruit ever since I was a kid and I’d eat it until the acid would turn my tongue raw. I started drawing pineapples next to my signature for no reason in high school and now it’s my logo.

2. Why don’t you have any friends?

Because they found out that Taylor Swift is one of my top Spotify Wrapped artists.

3. What camera do you use?

I use a Canon R5. I had a Canon EOS R before and that’s what most of my pictures on here were taken by except for the latest ones from Patagonia. The very first ones were taken with a Canon T5i. The first picture of me climbing on Crouching Lion in the Hawaii article was taken with the T5i.

4. How did you first get into photography ?

My sister asked me to take a picture of her on a hike in Hawaii with a cheap DSLR she had just bought. When I showed her the picture I took she said I sucked at taking pictures. So I had to prove her wrong.
